This chapter is a little out of sequence with the rest of the story, just because I can't remember exactly when it took place. I know it was right after I started using the needle, but I can't remember if something else happened before this instance. My husband wasn't sure either, but of course he was in Wisconsin when all this took place and only knew what I told him through Skype. Regardless, it did happen and needs to be told in my story, so here it is! Just disregard the timeline I guess! I'll figure it all out when it comes to writing the book.

It was late at night and Gio and I was staying over at my grandma's house for the night. Danni and Troy were fighting pretty bad, so we decided to leave them be until they got it worked out. We laid in my bed as we talked about anything and everything our racing minds could think of. As we were in deep conversation about what life really meant to us, I got a call from Ty. I hesitated to answer since it had been so long since I heard from him last and Gio wasn't too fond of him anyways, but I picked up the phone to see what he needed.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Ty. Look, I've got a golden opportunity and I need your help."
"Sure, what's up?"
"Okay, so ol' boy has the keys to an electronics store. His wife works there. Once she leaves, which is about 4:00, we have an hour to hit it. There's a lot of money to be made and I'll split it with you, but I need your car."
"Sure, what time would you bring it back though?"
"Around noon. That give's be time to unload everything, make a few stops, and I'll bring it back to you with either car or dope. You want anything?"
"Want what?"
"A computer, a TV, anything?"
"Oh, yeah get me a laptop. Mine is shit."
"Bet. Where are you at?"
"My grandma's house. I'm not going anywhere any time soon, so you're more than welcome to go ahead and stop by."
"Cool, cool. I'll be there in 20. Thanks, Em."
"Of course. See you soon."
"What was that about?" asked Gio.
"So, Ty is taking my car to hit a lick and bringing it back. He's done it before, so he's good. I know he is."
"I don't know, I got a bad feeling about it. I wouldn't let him drive my truck, if it were running, but seriously. That's a bad idea."
"Everything I do is a bad idea. If I can get money, drugs, or a new computer out of it, I'm game."
"I don't know..."
"I'll split everything he gives me with you. Promise."
"Alright, but if something bad happens, don't say I didn't warn you."
"It'll be fine! I trust him. Kind of... I mean, he's done this before so it's good. Really."
Gio rolled his eyes and laid back in bed. I laid next to him on my phone, waiting for Ty to say he was here. Gio had me worried though. What if he was right? What if he didn't bring it back this time? Or got arrested and they traced the car back to me? Would I get arrested too? Maybe it wasn't too late to tell him I changed my mind.
Before I could think about it any further, Ty was calling. I looked out of the window to see a car in the driveway. He was here, and I couldn't say no now. I grabbed my keys and headed outside. I wondered why he couldn't just take the car he was in. Maybe it was a big job and they needed both?
He got out of the passenger seat and met me on the porch.
"You promise you'll bring it back, right?"
"You know I will, why are you trippin'?"
"Gio got me worried about it."
"Oh, he's with you? I'll beat his ass, you know me. He doesn't. Don't worry, I got this. I'll be back before noon."
"Alright, be safe. Let me know if you need anything."
I handed off the keys and watched as he drove away in my car. I had a bad feeling watching him drive away. He hit licks all the time. He has for years. He has taken my car before to do God knows what. It wouldn't be so different this time. That's what I kept telling myself anyway.
I went back inside and sat on the bed next to Gio. I looked over at him while he drew something on a piece of paper he found.
"You really don't trust him, do you?"
"Hello no, Em. I told you. He's going to fuck you over. He does this to everyone. He's great until he doesn't need you anymore. Then he's your enemy."
"What if... he doesn't come back? That's the only car I have. I'm still paying on it."
"Well, then it's a lesson learned."
"I guess. I'm going to lay down. Try to anyways. I probably need some sleep."
"Yeah, me too."
We laid down in silence. I rolled to my side, seeing him stare up at the ceiling showing no interest in rest. I laid my head on his shoulder and fell fast asleep.
I opened my eyes to Gio sitting on the edge of the bed reading a book he found. The sun was shining through the curtains and I could hear the kids across the house. I grabbed my phone to see if Ty had said anything, but I hadn't gotten any response.
It was only 10:00, but I soon realized my grandma probably didn't know I was here because my car was gone. I jumped out of bed and swiftly walked into the living room.
"Oh! How did you get here?" My grandma said as she turned around to see who was coming down the hallway.
"I drove here. A friend is borrowing my car, but he's bringing it back in a few hours."
"Oh, okay. Are you hungry? I made cinnamon rolls!"
"No thank you, Memaw. I'm fine. I do have my friend Gio with me though. He had to get out for the night so we just stayed in my room. I hope we didn't bother you any."
"No, not at all. I didn't even know you were here. Well he's more than welcome to come out and grab something to eat or drink if he wants."
"Thank you, Memaw. I'll probably take him home soon if you wouldn't mind me using your car for a few minutes. He doesn't stay too far from here."
"No problem, as long as you promise you'll come back."
"Yeah, of course. I wouldn't leave you without a car."
I walked back to the room and sat by Gio.
"Nothing from Ty?"
"Nah, but he's probably busy. He's got two hours to go until I start to get worried. You wanna head back to Troy's house and see if it's safe now?"
"Yeah, I guess. Wait, how?"
"I'll just take my grandma's car. She doesn't mind, I already asked her about it."
"Oh, well sure. Yeah, let's go."
We left my grandma's house and headed over to Danni & Troy's house to see if the situation has calmed down any. As we pulled up, I saw them both out in the yard smiling and picking up wood, so I assumed everything was good now.
As I parked the car to let Gio out, I saw a man that looked oddly familiar walk out of the house. He was tall, very skinny, and had bright red hair. After a moment, I remembered I had seen him before. Dustin. He was here with his baby and some other girl a few months ago. He had a syringe tucked behind his ear, so I was hoping the baby didn't tag along this time.
I said my goodbyes to Gio and told Troy & Danni I'd be back later on. I drove away and headed back home. I knew I could have stayed a moment and gotten high, but I wanted to keep my word to my grandma. I drove quickly before I talked myself into going back.
As I made it back to the house, I could see that my grandma was surprised to see that I actually made it back. It felt good to keep my word. I know it made her happy. The boys were outside on the swings, but I went inside and back to my room to wait for a call from Ty.
As soon as I sat down, my phone rang. It was him. I felt a sense of relief seeing his number pop up on the phone. I was right, he wouldn't have run off without giving my car back. Surely he was on his way.
"Hey, what's up?" I answered.
"Call... CALL THE COPS!"
"What! Why? Why the hell would I call the cops?"
"Emily! Li-Listen to me! Ah, fuck... Emily. Call the cops, call them NOW! TELL THEM YOUR CAR WAS STOLEN! You have to listen to me. I am not... Not fucking around!"
I could hear him panting like he was running. Fear and panic washed over me. Ty was telling me to call the cops and say my car was stolen?
"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?!"
"I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS! CALL THE GOD DAMN COPS!! YOU DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME!!"
He hung up without any explanation. I started panicking. Should I call the cops? What would I say? They would come here and file a police report... What if they know I'm using? What if they find drugs in the car and pin it on me? I couldn't do it. I couldn't get myself to call them. There was too much that could go wrong for me. Instead, I called Troy.
"Hello?"
"Troy! I don't know what to do. Fuck! I don't know what to do!!"
"Calm down, what happened?"
"Ty, he borrowed my car and I don't know... He just called me and told me to call the cops and say my car was stolen. I don't know what to do!"
"Then call the cops! He knows what he's doing."
"Troy. I'm not calling the cops. I'm not going to lie to the cops, I'll go to jail! I can't go to jail!"
"If you're scared of jail, you might as well get clean right now."
"No, I, Ugh... What do I do??"
"Come here, we will figure it out. Just calm down."
"I can't calm down! He has my car!"
"Emily, he stole your car. You probably won't get it back at this point. I don't know what he did, but you can say goodbye to your car."
"God damnit!"
I hung up and threw my phone across the room. He stole my car. Did he steal it though? I let him use it... I was confused, shaking, and about to cry. All I could think was that he took my car to do something, got caught, and abandoned everything I had in it. My clothes, my CD's, my knives, my brass knuckles... I had so much in there.
I stormed out of the room and ran outside to my grandma.
"Memaw, I'm sorry, I gotta go. I got to go find my car."
"What happened!?"
"My car was stolen!"
"What?"
"I don't know, I don't really know what's going on, but my car is gone and I need to find it!"
"Oh God, Emily... Take my car but be safe. Call me and let me know if you find anything out."
"Okay, I'm so sorry, I love you!"
I jumped in her car and drove away as quickly as I could. The fear and panic turned into a boiling rage. I started laughing, crying and screaming. He stole my car.
He STOLE my car.
I held out my arm as Troy found the right spot to hit me in. I was trying to calm down because I didn't want the drugs to amplify my anger. I felt the rush take over. The fear and anger subsided. I closed my eyes and sat on the bed, letting the world melt around me.
Troy was on the phone with different people who might have known where Ty was, but no luck. Gio was angry with me, so he kept himself in the living room. I wasn't ready for his "I told you so" speech. As I came down from my rush, I looked over at Danni who looked just as distraught as I did.
"Will you still want me around if I don't have a car?"
"What? Of course! Why would you say that?"
"I just feel like everyone wanted me around because I could give y'all rides in a car that wasn't stolen. That's really all I had to offer. Now that's gone."
"Em, we like you for you. Car or no car. You can absolutely stay with us still, whenever you want. Come over any time you can. We aren't in it for the free ride."
"Thanks... I just don't know what to do. I've never been without a car since I started driving."
"It'll be okay. We will find your car."
Troy came back into the room and slammed the door shut. He looked infuriated as he looked over at me. He sat down next to me and did a bump for himself. Whatever happened must have been bad.
"Okay, here's the deal," he said as he pulled the syringe from his arm and laid it down on the bed. "Your little buddy Ty grabbed a few friends and hit up some houses in broad fucking daylight. Someone caught them and they hauled ass into the woods. He left your car behind with everything in it. At this point, you are going to have to file a police report. There's no way around it. You might be able to find your car if they haven't towed it off yet. They said they left it right at the Weston county line. That's all I know right now."
"How did you find that out?"
"I called him. I called him until he answered his fucking phone. I don't know where he is, but he doesn't have your car."
"Oh my god... oh my god. Fuck."
That's all I could say. I was at a loss for words. Although the drugs kept me level headed for the moment, I was still fueled with rage. He stole my car. He did more than he told me he was going to. But why? Why would he fuck me over like that?
"I want to go find my car. I've got to find it. I don't give a damn what's in it. I need my car."
"Alright, well Dustin is going with you."
"Why?"
"Because Ty is scared of him. That's why."
"Oh...okay."
I hopped off the bed with my legs still a bit wobbly from the dose I got and walked into the living room.
"Dustin! Get ready, y'all are going to find a car. If you see Ty, fuck him up."
To be continued...
This is going to be a long story, and I didn't realize that when I first started writing it. Somewhere I had a picture of when I was leaving to find my car, but I can't find it. I wish I could because I was smiling, but I looked terrifying. It was a drug-fueled rage and a caption saying exactly how I felt. Maybe I'll find it somewhere and can put it with part two.
Over the time of looking for my car, I was convinced that he stole it. Not that I let him borrow it and he messed up, but that he stole it from me entirely. It was a huge big, bad scenario that went down that almost cost my life, but I'll get to that later on. This was the beginning of many things that happened back to back after I decided to use the needle. When he said I allowed demons into my life, he really meant it.
Also, I don't know why I never questioned that someone would leave an electronics store at 4:00 AM? Makes no sense, but then again nothing really did at this point in my life.
Sorry this chapter was short and could have been written better. There's a lot going on at home that is keeping me from writing more, so I apologize. If you can, just keep my family in your prayers... Thank you.
